An Update on COVID-19

UPDATED: March 20, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we are cancelling Whisky and Words 2020. We do so in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the actions that each of us—as individuals and organizations—must take to flatten the curve and keep each other safe.

We do not make this decision lightly, but we know it is the right one.

Whisky & Words is the Vancouver Writers Fest’s primary fundraising event and has been a vital source of revenue to support our youth education program, that connects over 7,000 BC kids to celebrated writers, empowering them to see the impact of books and words on enhancing our community.

To give our guests a bit of the event experience, we will be moving Whisky & Words’ auction of amazing items to an online auction in the next few months. Our community, and our love for events that brings people together with each other and with important ideas, is what motivates our staff team, our board and our volunteers. All of us are grateful for your continued support of Whisky & Words, as well as the Vancouver Writers Fest, both during this challenging time as well as in the future.

We look forward to seeing you soon. Until then, be safe and well.

We are all concerned about the spread of COVID-19 in Metro Vancouver and the precautions we need to take as an organization and as individuals to stay healthy.

At Whisky & Words and the Vancouver Writers Fest, we are carefully monitoring all updates from the BC Centre For Disease Control.

We will be announcing updates regarding Whisky & Words, including masterclasses and dinners, on social media and our website.

Any decisions we make will be led by public health guidelines and recommendations. For more information on COVID-19 and how it spreads, please see these resources from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
